Experimental and Statistical Analysis of Bitumen’s Field Ageing in Asphalt Pavements

Field ageing gradients of bitumen samples recovered from 14 asphalt road sections were investigated via rheological and chemical characterizations statistical analysis. The effects air voids environmental factors on the gradient evaluated using field climate data. effectiveness pressure vessel (PAV) test was assessed in accelerating bitumen’s long-term by comparing with Critical for identified methods. A model Glover-Rowe (G-R) parameter formulated verified incorporating screened key factors. Results indicate that a threshold void content (around 6%) exists differentiating patterns pavements. An increasing tendency is observed between annual days below 0°C. indices, stiffness-related G-R can quantify PAV condition bottom slices’ to same level as pavement depth 0.5–2 cm after 8 years’ service. Pavement service life, binder content, minimum temperature, above 32°C, 0°C are critical material significantly affect complex shear modulus, crossover frequency, parameter, ? T c . an acceptable mean absolute error 28.1% R 2 value 0.95.
